The San José-Evergreen Community College District Foundation proudly celebrated student achievement, resilience, and community generosity during its 2026–27 Scholarship Ceremonies at San José City College and Evergreen Valley College.
The annual ceremonies brought together scholarship recipients, donors, faculty, staff, family members, and community partners to recognize the transformative impact of education and the power of philanthropy. More than a celebration of financial support, the events highlighted the dreams, determination, and accomplishments of students who are working toward brighter futures.
This year, the Foundation awarded 173 scholarships totaling $244,000 to students pursuing university transfer, career education, workforce training, and degree and certificate completion. These scholarships help remove financial barriers, allowing students to focus on their education, personal growth, and long-term goals.
Scholarship support plays a critical role in helping students navigate the challenges of higher education. For many recipients, these awards provide much-needed financial relief while serving as a powerful reminder that their community believes in their potential.
One San José City College scholarship recipient shared:
“Thank you for believing in students like me. Your support means more than you know. It gives us hope, motivation, and the opportunity to keep moving forward. I am truly grateful, and I hope one day to give back in the same way you have helped me.”
An Evergreen Valley College scholarship recipient echoed that sentiment:
“Thank you for investing in students like me and making opportunities like this possible. Your support helps reduce financial barriers and allows students to stay focused on their education and future goals. I deeply appreciate your generosity and hope to use this opportunity to make a positive impact in my community.”
The ceremonies also celebrated the donors, alumni, faculty, staff, foundations, and community organizations whose generosity makes these opportunities possible. Their investments help students persist through financial challenges, remain enrolled, and continue progressing toward their educational and career aspirations.
As the Foundation looks ahead to the coming year, it remains committed to growing scholarship opportunities and strengthening partnerships that help students thrive. Through the collective support of donors and community members, students across San José City College and Evergreen Valley College continue to pursue their goals, overcome barriers, and create brighter futures for themselves, their families, and their communities.
